LinkShare is designed for securely sharing files with other people through controlled download links.
Connections use HTTPS so data is encrypted while traveling between your device and LinkShare.
Upload individual files or ZIP files and create links that can be sent to other people.
Shared files use unique, difficult-to-guess links instead of predictable file numbers.
Account access, passwords, file allowances, and account status are centrally managed.
LinkShare is a file-sharing service designed to make it easy to send large or private files using controlled download links.
After signing in, users can upload files, create share links, download their own files, and remove files that are no longer needed.
LinkShare accepts individual files. Folders cannot be uploaded directly.
To share a folder or a group of files, place them into a ZIP file first and then upload the ZIP file to LinkShare.
LinkShare uses secure account authentication and authorization controls to protect user access.
Passwords are not stored as readable plaintext. Instead, cryptographically derived password hashes are stored.
New accounts may begin with a temporary password. Users are required to choose a new password after their first login.
If a password is reset, the user receives a new temporary password and must change it again at their next login.
Signed-in users can upload, download, delete, and share files associated with their account.
File access is checked by LinkShare before a file is returned to the user.
Each account has a file-sharing allowance that limits the total size of files currently available through that account.
LinkShare is intended for sharing files with other people rather than acting as a traditional cloud drive or folder-based storage service.
There is no folder hierarchy inside LinkShare. Files are uploaded individually.
If you need to send a complete folder, multiple folders, or a collection of files together, create a ZIP file before uploading.
Instead of trying to upload:
ProjectFolder\
Create:
ProjectFolder.zip
Then upload the ZIP file and share its LinkShare link.
Files uploaded for sharing are kept in private server storage and are not directly exposed as normal public website files.
This means files cannot normally be accessed simply by guessing a physical filename or browsing directly to the storage location.
LinkShare performs the required account or share-link checks before returning a file.
LinkShare is accessed through:
https://linkshare.stackboxlab.com
HTTPS encrypts information traveling between the user's browser and LinkShare.
Normal HTTP requests are redirected to HTTPS.
When a file is uploaded for sharing, LinkShare creates a unique random token for that file.
Share links do not use simple sequential identifiers that could easily be guessed.
Sensitive share information is stored in protected form so LinkShare can securely validate and display share links.
Protection information is persisted so valid share links continue to function through normal service restarts and application updates.
Anyone who receives a valid share link may be able to access the shared file. Only send share links to intended recipients.
Share links can be revoked. Once revoked, LinkShare will no longer allow that link to retrieve the file.
Revoking a link cannot remove copies that were already downloaded before the link was revoked.
Each LinkShare account has an assigned limit for the total size of files currently available for sharing.
LinkShare shows how much of that allowance is currently in use and how much remains available.
Files that are no longer needed can be removed, freeing capacity for new uploads.
No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security.
Security also depends on proper maintenance of the hosting environment, storage devices, backups, certificates, network protections, and account credentials.
HTTPS protects files while they are being transferred. File contents are not currently claimed to be independently encrypted by LinkShare while stored on disk. Storage-level encryption can be used when encryption at rest is required.
